Nursing Assistant / Certified Nursing Assistant Critical Care / Full-Time at Christus Health summary: The Nursing Assistant provides basic patient care under nurse supervision to ensure a safe and comfortable environment for patients, primarily in critical care settings. The role requires completion of a nursing assistant course, BLS certification, and competency in patient care skills, along with the ability to handle emergency situations and physical demands. Experience in healthcare is preferred, with responsibilities including patient lifting, positioning, and exposure to infectious environments. Description POSITION SUMMARY: Under the direction of the nurse, performs basic patient care related tasks that contributes to the maintenance of a safe and comfortable patient environment. Requirements EDUCATION: High school graduate or equivalent. Successful completion of Nursing Assistant course within one year. CERTIFICATION/LICENSES: BLS certification required. Specialty certifications as required by each unit. SKILLS: Must be able to pass skills competency checklist as required by each unit. Must be able to read, speak and write English fluently. EXPERIENCE: Six months in a healthcare related field preferred. NATURE OF SUPERVISION: -Responsible to: Director/Manager, Nursing Unit ENVIRONMENT: - Bloodborne pathogens - B Works irregular hours. Multiple simultaneous activities around patient care. Exposure to infectious diseases and x-rays. Subject to varying unpredictable situations. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Must be able to handle emergency/crisis situations, prolonged, extensive or considerable standing/walking. Has knowledge of and uses good body mechanics. Frequently lifts, positions, pushes and/or transfers patients or equipment. Hearing and visual acuity within normal limits. Manual dexterity and fine motor coordination required.
