Deliver specialized nursing care in a Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) setting, focusing on providing attentive and compassionate support to critically ill pediatric patients. The role emphasizes direct patient care and collaboration within a multidisciplinary healthcare team to ensure optimal outcomes for each child. Schedule/Hours: Contract position with flexible scheduling availability Floating between departments or locations within a 20-mile radius may be required Responsibilities: Provide patient-centered care using the nursing process to assess, plan, implement, evaluate, and document care for assigned pediatric patients Maintain nurse-to-patient ratios of 1:1 to 1:3, particularly for pediatric or SAC status patients Coordinate patient care through effective collaboration with families and healthcare teams Administer medications and treatments according to physician orders or established protocols, ensuring thorough documentation Identify and address patient and family education and discharge planning needs throughout care Supervise Licensed Practical Nurses (LPNs) and non-licensed assistive personnel as applicable Complete required competency testing and education relevant to patient population and unit protocols Desired Experience: Valid RN licensure with PICU experience highly preferred Strong clinical assessment and critical thinking skills in pediatric care Ability to work effectively across multiple departments or locations Excellent communication and teamwork abilities This contract role provides an excellent opportunity to apply your pediatric nursing expertise in a dynamic environment with varied patient needs.
