NNSA Requirements for MedPEDs

If you have a Medical Portable Electronic Device (MedPED), such as a pacemaker, defibrillator, drug-releasing pump, hearing aids, or diagnostic equipment and other equipment for measuring, monitoring, and recording body functions such as heartbeat and brain waves, if employed by Sandia National Laboratories you may be required to comply with NNSA security requirements for MedPEDs.

If you have a MedPED and you are selected for an on-site interview at Sandia National Laboratories, there may be additional steps necessary to ensure compliance with NNSA security requirements prior to the interview date.

Salary Range

$88,600 - $172,300

*Salary range is estimated, and actual salary will be determined after consideration of the selected candidate's experience and qualifications, and application of any approved geographic salary differential.

What Your Job Will Be Like

We are seeking a dedicated Cyber Assurance Architect to join our team to develop cyber policy for the organization and provide guidance on implementation of security controls and mitigations. This candidate will lead USNDS security plans and collaborate with Sandia ISSM/AISSM and DOE AO. Perform system certification and accreditation planning and testing. Join us to develop creative solutions to unique national security challenges!

On any given day, you may be called on to:

  • Focus on operational security and respond to inquiries related to cyber security. Assess and mitigate threats and risks.
  • Develop and maintain detailed security reporting capabilities and effectively analyze security scans as feedback for system revisions.
  • Verify and validate security requirements compliance.
  • Understand and stay up-to-date with industry standard methodologies and ground breaking security landscapes.
  • Take on unknown cyber risks and threats with structured methodology. Deliver cyber policy awareness and education briefings and documentation. Review security logs & SIEM dashboards for signs of attacks.
  • Use security data from internal and external alerting and requirements sources in an effort to implement effective mitigations.
  • Partner with computer incident response team. Due to the nature of the work, the selected applicant will be required to work onsite at the Albuquerque, NM location.

    Qualifications We Require
    • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Cybersecurity, Computer Science, Computer Engineering or relevant STEM field, plus 1 year of demonstrated experience in above disciplines.
    • Ability to obtain and maintain a DOE Q-Level clearance. Qualifications We Desire
      • Experience in a cyber-related field such as systems administration, network administration, software development, or computer security.
      • Experience working in a US Government cyber security program, or knowledge and experience with Risk Management Framework (RMF) or Sandia's cyber security requirements.
      • Experience creating and managing security plans and assessing compliance with the plans.
      • Experience with DOE or DoD processes for gaining and retaining cyber accreditation for computer systems, software, and networks.
      • Demonstrated technical writing skills.
      • Ability to apply cyber security standards, directives, guidance and policies to an architectural framework.
      • Cybersecurity certifications (e.g. CISSP, CEH, CISM, Security+).
      • Configuration Management experience.
      • Ability to develop and lead integrated solution roadmaps and identify architectural risk and propose alternatives.
      • Experience with or understanding of network and system administration.
      • Experience with ground breaking forensic tools and techniques for attack reconstruction, including dead system analysis and volatile data collection.
      • Active DOE Q or TS/SCI. About Our Team

          Security Clearance

          Sandia is required by DOE to conduct a pre-employment drug test and background review that includes checks of personal references, credit, law enforcement records, and employment/education verifications.
