The Communication Architectures Department performs trade studies,
analyses, and simulations to optimize the overall communications
performance of terrestrial, satellite, launch vehicle, and
ground-based systems. With today's proliferated systems, rapid
acquisition timelines, and enhanced resiliency, radio frequency
(RF) spectrum is contested. Architecting this generation of comm
systems while proactively addressing spectrum engineering is the
mission of CAD.The successful candidate will leverage CAD's
geographically dispersed team of comm architecting and spectrum
engineers and will coordinate with the broader Communication
Technologies and Engineering Division (CTED) team. Main-mission
communication satellites, wideband links, command and telemetry,
and terrestrial networks, along with their enabling technologies,
are the domain of the CTED. The division comprises all aspects,
from architecture to implementation; our engineers work directly
with corporate customers to ensure robust and resilient
communications.What You'll Be Doing:
- Provide systems engineering expertise for space and terrestrial
communication architectures
- Provide technical analysis and develop simulation tools to
assess communication system performance and to develop the next
generation of communication architectures requirements
- Assess the performance of satellite and ground systems,
communications links, and wireless network protocols
- Perform radio frequency interference analysis and modeling
between communication systems to promote spectrum sharing and
spectrum contention issues
- Provide analyses and evaluations of national and international
space policy activities
- Survey and identify trends in spectrum usage and develop new
communication architectures and concepts
- Provide communication theory expertise including assessment of
payloads, terminals, and satellite enterprise systems**This
position can be filled as an Aerospace Senior Engineering
Specialist or Senior Project Leader based on experience**What You
Need to be Successful Minimum Requirements for Senior Engineering
Specialist
- Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or relevant field.
- Minimum of 12-years of relevant technical experience.
- Knowledge of enterprise-level satellite communications
architecture design.
- Project development experience and ability to lead small teams
of engineers.
- Ability to present results effectively in briefings and
technical reports.
- Able to work and learn new concepts that go beyond
communications engineering.
- This position requires the ability to obtain security clearance
(including a TS/SCI), which is issued by the US government. U.S
citizenship is required to obtain a security clearance.Additional
Requirements for Senior Project Leader
- Proven project development and technicalleadership experience
to lead small teams of engineers
- Proven business development skills with new customers
- Proven analytical and problem-solving skills when
workingindependently orin a team setting
- Exceptional presentation skills for senior government
customers
- Thorough understanding of space and terrestrial communications
technologies
- This position requires the ability to obtain security clearance
(including a TS/SCI), which is issued by the US government. U.S
citizenship is required to obtain a security clearance.How You Can

- Master's Degree or Ph.D. in engineering or related field
- Experience in enterprise-level satellite communications
architectures design
- Experience with spectrum management and policy work
- New business development experience
- Knowledge of government programs (SMC and NRO) and commercial

- Experience with terrestrial communication (5G LTE)and or
