Operations Analyst/Communications Specialist (L3)

Job Description:

Responsibilities: The Communications Specialist is responsible for the development and implementation of sound communications plans and strategies, support of an integrated communications model, the development and implementation of key messaging, talking points, and media statements in response to routine and emergent issues, and the ability to effectively position the organization positively with the media, stakeholders and customers. The Specialist serves as a point of contact for internal or external communications and works in or with the internal business units and external Government organizations, including key leadership, and Government communications to develop and coordinate the positioning of strategic content to enhance the organizational brand and identity. This position requires exceptional skills in all facets of communications and the ability to seamlessly work with organizations across the Air Force and Space Community to advance the organization's business objectives. We're looking for someone with strong writing abilities, creativity and a broad understanding of aerospace programs/initiatives to focus on this critical part of national defense business. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Manage the organization's key mission messages through effective communication of the goals and initiatives to internal and external stakeholders.Develop and implement internal and external communications strategies and tactics such as, news releases and media pitching, speeches/remarks, key messaging and talking points, internal communications, collateral materials, event coordination, managing web and social media content, and interaction with and oversight of vendors.Develop and maintain strong working relationship with local press, stakeholders, and other business unit peers and leadership.Positively position organizational initiatives through various communications channels to advance the organization's key mission messages among customers and stakeholders.Collaborates with external agencies and internal resources to design internal communications campaign assets such as newsletters, promotional videos, infographics, internal intranet sites, and other digital resources to drive employee engagement.Writes and edits internal communications in support of the organization's strategic priorities (e.g., leadership messages, articles, talking points, webcast content, practice-wide content, internal website pages, etc.).Always maintains discretion and confidentiality when dealing with sensitive or proprietary information and manages confidential information prior to internal or public release.Employs strong project management skills (initiating, planning, executing, managing, and closing projects to achieve plan objectives).Remain up-to-speed on best practices and digital tools available for reaching target audiences and expanding audience engagementDeveloping content that informs, educates and connects with current and prospective staff, stakeholders and external agencies.Identifying and implementing new communications mediums.Ensuring internal and external communications messages are consistent with brand objectives.Assisting with strategy communication and messaging from senior leadership.Measuring and reporting on the effectiveness of communications activities.To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Must have a Top-Secret clearanceMust be a U.S. citizen4-year relevant degree and a minimum of 5 to 8 years' experience in communications (media/public relations, employee communications or advertising)Proven, excellent communications skills - both written and interpersonalSignificant experience working with MS PowerPoint and developing senior level briefingsExperience producing, writing, and editing communications deliverablesStrong analytical skillsExcellent organizational and presentation skillsProven ability to be innovative and creative and capable of conveying complex information in a simplistic mannerAbility to work autonomously and interface easily with senior business leaders and the local pressAerospace/industry communications writing, messaging, and strategy experiencePublic policy advocacy writing, messaging and strategy experienceMedia relations experienceGraphic design experiencePhysical Requirements Work may involve sitting or standing for extended periods of time. Position may require typing and reading from a computer screen. Must have enough mobility, including but not limited to bending, reaching, and kneeling to complete daily duties in a timely and efficient manner. May include lifting weigh up to thirty (30) pounds as necessary.
