Type of Opportunity: Full Time FTE: 1.****** Exempt: Yes Work Schedule: Weekday Schedule Monday-Friday Responsibilities Using appropriate data analysis tools Excel and others, tracks and trends reported patient safety event data, and creates high-level reports with graphs and charts. Assists with developing and executing mechanisms to translate this data and providing this information to leadership, committees, and individuals as appropriate. Assisting the Director, Patient Safety, will coordinate with the Analytics Office and others in review, update revision, and maintaining the event reporting system for staff to report near miss and actual patient safety events. Perform daily triage review of reported patient safety events for initial classification. Notifies the Director, Patient Safety of those events potentially requiring immediate review. Assists with the development of reports and presentations for Patient Safety and Infection Prevention as needed. Coordinates the root cause analysis RCA process by scheduling interviews; collecting data and information from the assigned Quality Managers; and maintaining a database of those events requiring RCA or other in-depth analysis. Performs high level searches of existing healthcare information sources for research findings on relevant patient safety issues as needed/directed. Seeks additional assistance from the PHS librarian as needed. Serves as a Champion of Just Culture, and assists the Director, Patient Safety with providing support to Just Culture Coaches as needed/directed. Coordinates and provides support for the Patient Safety Committee; Infection Control Committee; and other workgroups and taskforce activities as needed or assigned. Responsible for administrative support for Patent Safety leadership to facilitate the efficient and smooth operation of the department, ensuring deadlines are met and projects are brought to successful completion. Demonstrates commitment to the current Elevating Safer Care and future patient safety initiatives by integrating principles in all internal and external customer interactions; and delivers on the PHS CARES commitments. Qualifications Bachelor's degree in a healthcare related field, Business Administration BA, Information Systems IS, or equivalency in degree programs that include some data analysis. Two years of experience at a healthcare facility is highly preferred. Previous experience in patient safety/healthcare quality a definite plus. Just Culture certification, TeamSTEPPS Master Trainer, and Certified Professional in Patient Safety highly preferred. Will obtain Just Culture certification within 9 12 months of hiring. Proficiency in Microsoft Suite of tools including Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint is required. Must possess ability to work independently, organize time, and manage multiple projects simultaneously while also receiving and acting on leadership direction. Must have the ability to deal professionally, appropriately and effectively with very sensitive and confidential information, maintaining confidentiality at all times. Must communicate effectively in written and verbal forms both formally and informally in office and clinical settings. Ability to support a shared accountability, discipline-appropriate environment that encourages open, voluntary risk reporting and a culture of safety.
