Job Summary: The archaeology field supervisor will lead archaeological field investigations to support cultural resources management and compliance projects.Responsibilities:

  • Oversee and conduct fieldwork (walk 6-8 miles a day, carry heavy loads, excavate, record technical information, identify and document artifacts, features, and sites)
  • Oversee project logistics, and support data analysis and report development
  • Oversee and support lab and field personnel, provide guidance, ensure quality of data collection
  • Write or contribute to technical documents
  • Adhere to agency guidelines and project scopes, project schedules, and safety protocols
  • May support business development, may contribute to proposal developmentQualifications:
    • Master's or bachelor's degree
    • Must hold or qualify for a State of New Mexico Historic Preservation Division permit (be listed on the SHPD directory of archaeologists)
    • Must meet BLM requirements for field supervisor
    • Knowledge of state and federal historic preservation regulations
    • Knowledge of field and report guidelines and standards of the New Mexico Historic Preservation Division and other land management agencies in New Mexico
    • Skilled with NMCRIS
    • Skilled with Word programs, data management, GIS/GPS
    • Excellent communication skills
