What Your Job Will Be Like Organization 03701, Acute Care, is currently seeking a Coding and Documentation administrator to join their team!The selected candidate will plan, develop, and administer a health information system for a health care facility that is consistent with the standards of accrediting and regulatory agencies and the requirements of the health care system. They will also develop and implement coding policies and procedures for documenting, storing, and retrieving information. One will review medical record documentation and accurately assign IDC 10 and procedure codes as well as CPT IV and HSPSC codes.The successful candidate will document compliance with policies, procedures, and standards governing the privacy, confidentiality, and security of all individually identifiable health information. They will also plan, develop, design, evaluate, and coordinate information and records systems, and model, measure, and analyze business operations to aid in rational, qualitative, and quantitative decision making.On any given day, one may be called upon to: Provide strategic and tactical planning, development, design, evaluation, and coordination of technical work documents and records systems Coordinate and direct projects to create and maintain formal processes and procedures Evaluate alternatives, perform appropriate cost-benefit analyses, and recommend solutions that improve effectiveness and minimize costs commensurate with acceptable risks Supervise activities related to the development, implementation, maintenance of and adherence to policies and procedures in accordance with ICD 10 coding and regarding the privacy of and access to patient health information Develop Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) in-service educational materials and conducts trainings for health care personnel Audit medical charts to ensure coding standards are met and support providers in making proper coding adjustments Maintain up to date ICD 10 coding knowledge and reports on and provide training on ICD changes to impacted staff Qualifications We Require A High School Diploma, plus 13 years related experience CPT Certified 3 years experience in medical coding The ability to acquire and maintain a DOE L-level security clearance Qualifications We Desire Knowledge in the following: Telemedicine codes and modifiers Benefits and health care Health information management policies governing the appropriate handling of medical information, including policies governing privacy, security, confidentiality, and release of information Occupational health-related federal, state, and local laws, regulations, policies, and practices vital to manage health information for specialized programs or projects Medical terminology, including knowledge of anatomy and physiology Sandia National Laboratories' policies, practices, and procedures Guidelines and requirements of agencies that regulate medical licenses and certifications Knowledge of and proficiency in electronic medical record systems Experience and demonstrated skills in conducting research, investigating alternative solutions, and recommending solutions to problems affecting program administration The ability to handle confidential information appropriately The demonstrated ability to influence outcomes with no direct authority The ability to prepare and present oral and written reports The ability to model behaviors that reflect Sandia's core values About Our Team The Sandia Health Services Center provides a diverse set of health-related services to employees, dependents, and retirees.
