The position of Procurement Specialist works under limited
supervision to assist in completing procurement related functions
and contracts. Contracts includes redlining contractual
arrangements and identifying potential risks. This position will
also assist in the development and implementation of operating
policies and procedures related to Procurement functions. The
successful candidate must have the ability to work effectively and
efficiently within a teamwork environment, have a high attention to
detail, and be able to work well under pressure.

Under limited supervision, develops and administers a wide range of
contracts for UNM Medical Group. Will negotiate, develop, extend,
terminate, and renegotiate contracts as appropriate. Serves as
principal point of liaison with internal/external contractors
and/or vendors. Monitors existing contracts for compliance, while
ensuring adherence to organizational and departmental policies and
Duties and Responsibilities
Formulates, negotiates, establishes, and administers contractual
arrangements and procurement proposals for various products and/or
Services, as appropriate.
Evaluates and/or monitors contractor performance to determine
necessity for amendments or extensions of contracts, and compliance
to contractual obligations.
Analyzes and approves/rejects internal and/or external requests for
deviation from specifications indicated in the contractual
Analyzes price proposals and other data to determine reasonableness
of prices; reviews and interprets contract provisions to achieve
cost efficiencies and reductions where feasible.
Serves as a primary liaison with internal and external
representatives to ensure compliance with contract specifications
and resolution of problems and issues, as they arise.
Maintains files and/or records of current and potential contracts,
suppliers, materials, prices, inventories, etc.
May participate in the review and determination of contractor
performance against contract specifications and takes remedial
action, which may include contract termination, as appropriate.
Answer questions and provides department trainings, including but
not limited to process and contract requirements, as

Minimum Job Requirements
High School Diploma and 6 years of directly related experience.
Completed degree from an accredited institution above the minimum
requirements, may be substituted on a year for year basis.
Verification of education and licensure (if applicable) will be
required if selected for hire.
