If so, you could be the Technical Writer and Editor we are seeking to join our team!You will provide matrixed Technical writing and Information Management services to the organizational group 3646, Reentry Systems organization.You may be interviewed and hired into one of several departments within our center.On any given day, you may be called on to:Write, compile, and edit highly technical requirements-based documentation of critical importance for nuclear deterrence programs working with a team of Technical Writers and Editors.Apply knowledge of internal business practices to manage information flow between Production Realization Teams (PRTs), customers, and management, applying rigor and timely formatting and editing of the array of documents and communications to ensure quality of the delivered communications.Apply research, engineering system design, and nuclear quality assurance to support Nuclear Deterrence.Gather accomplishments; produce monthly reports, prepare and edit documentation and assist with presentations and documentation for program reviews.Ensure that requirements are met, and documentation is clear, concise and understandable by its intended audience(s).Build uniform approaches, educate and assist customers, and collaborate with coworkers; as well as provide mentorship to early career Technical Writer & Editors.Write, edit, or rewrite, either as original concepts or under direction, technical articles, publications, manuals, presentations, and other materials to communicate clearly and effectively technical procedures, research findings, technical developments, and other news and information to a wide range of internal or external audiences.Acquire or verify subject knowledge by interviewing subjects; observing experiments or production; and referring to blueprints, sketches, engineering drawings, journals, rewrites of articles, bulletins, manuals, or similar publications.Exercise quality control over documents intended for external distribution; as well as interpret and coordinate documentation and communication policies and procedures.Execute documentation configuration and records management.Required: Bachelor's degree in Communications, English, Journalism, or relevant field plus eight (8) years of experience working with highly technical writing and editing; or equivalent combination of education and experience.Experience developing, planning, and editing technical reports, white papers, and presentations.Experience working nuclear deterrence documentation as well as with PRIME, PDM Link, EIMS, and SharePoint systems.Proven experience working with classified information on weapons programs and weapons documentation requirements.Must have an active DOE Q-level security clearance to start; or other active clearance, such as SCI or DOD Top Secret.Desired: Master's degree in Communications, English, Journalism, or relevant field.Proven experience working with DOORS and nuclear deterrence requirements.Proven experience with the following: Composing communication products.Working cross-site, cross location programs.Developing positive customer relationships, processes and procedures.Experience mentoring early career coworkers.Department Description: The Communications Center (3600) at Sandia National Laboratories is responsible for all Labs-wide communications and all communications functions within the Labs.
