Sandia reserves the right to extend the posting date at any time.:Organization 07625, Strategic Firing Subsystems, is currently seeking two Electronics Technologists to design, develop, test, qualify, and monitor firing subsystems and other high-consequence embedded systems. These systems are used every day in U.S. Navy and U.S. Air Force nuclear weapons and other national security programs.This organization has a portfolio that covers diverse opportunities across Sandia s Nuclear Deterrence mission and various Strategic Partnership Programs supporting work across the U.S. government.On any given day, one may be called upon to:+ Develop, build, modify, repair, and maintain a wide variety of electronic, electromechanical, and mechanical instruments, systems, or processes+ Work from engineering drawings, schematics, and written or verbal instructions+ Operate equipment, conduct tests, and report data in a prescribed format+ Support the fabrication, population, and testing of proto-boards, bread-boards, and printed circuit boards with high voltage components and small discrete electrical components+ Perform, test, and inspect soldering work in accordance with standards+ Service electronic hardware and re-work boards to correct defects in designs or replace faulty components+ Build and test cable assemblies, including adapters, to support testing of electrical components based on custom tester designs+ Travel to other domestic locations in support of program requirementsCandidates applying on this requisition may be interviewed and/or hired into one of several organizations at Sandia National Laboratories.Required:+ A High School Diploma or equivalent plus 3 years related experience in building, modifying, repairing, and/or maintaining electronic or electromechanical systems or operating laboratory equipment such as oscilloscopes or other data capture devices+ The ability to acquire and maintain a DOE Q-level security clearanceDesired:+ Experience with high voltage or other firing systems+ Experience with nuclear weapons+ Prior project management or leadership experience+ Proven attention to detail+ The Ability to work on cross-organizational/multidisciplinary teams+ Strong organizational skills and ability to multitask with contending priorities+ Excellent oral and written communication skills+ An active DOE Q-level security clearance; or other equivalent active security clearance such as DOD Top SecretDepartment Description:The Firing & Embedded Systems group (7620) is a recognized leader in realizing safe, secure, and reliable products.
