We are seeking an R&D Mechanical Technologist for the 5403 Integrated Technical Systems to support Hypersonic programs within Integrated Military Systems. You will get to perform hardware reception and inspection, quality control, system integration, process development, and test of flight hardware and missile systems in support of prototype development flight testing. You should have a background in working with mechanical hardware and mechanical systems. You may need to travel to support program interactions, and system integration activities including flight testing at remote test develop, fabricate, test and integrate flight hardware in a fast-paced environment to support Missile Defense Applications. You will have the opportunity to impact the development and performance of Advanced Concepts experiments and Mission Hardware. This position will include both laboratory and field-testing operations.Knowledge, Skills, AbilityThe Center 5400 Integrated Technical Systems Department, 5403, is divided into two components. Org. 5403, employs a wide variety of technical staff and technologists that provide technical support in the areas of Mission Assurance; Security; and ES&H, including Work Planning and Control; corporate compliance; and laboratory integration. Org, 5403-2, Technical Program Support Team, operates a laboratory complex that provides hardware definition, assembly, ground test, instrumentation, and characterization. Those applicants requiring reasonable accommodation to the application and/or interview process should notify the Human Resources DepartmentMinimum Qualifications (Required)Associates degree in STEM or five years minimum of directly related experience.Experience in mechanical build, test and assemblyAbility to obtain a DOE Q security clearancePreferred Qualifications (Desired)Ideally, your background will also include: Aerospace experience (experience with complex electromechanical systems, appreciation of quality/care during handling, assembly using procedures, etc.)Experience in fielded test operationsExperience dealing with flight hardwareExperience with electrical cabling and interconnectsUnderstanding the operation and troubleshooting of complex electro-mechanical systems.Documenting Electromechanical component and system test results.Record of performing assigned tasking while working within budget and scheduling challenges.Current and active DOE Q-level security clearance a plus.Job SpecificationsOn any given day, your duties will include:Collaborate with a team of engineers and technologists on the design and development of a variety of Electro-Mechanical components or assemblies to meet defined requirementsWork independently or in collaboration with other technologists, using test equipment to ensure that components meet the design needsMake independent decisions, ensure the build and assembly of prototype designs are performed in an efficient mannerIntegrate assembled prototypes into mission systems
