Position Summary:Direct, plan, implement and monitor risk management programs to include identifying and analyzing trends at the Health Sciences Center. Prepare and present a variety of risk management reports. Ensure adherence to Hospitals and departmental policies and procedures. No patient care assignment. Accountability: QUALITY & RISK MANAGEMENT - Plan and implement quality and risk management programs to meet organizational needs; integrate Health Sciences Center quality/risk management

RISK IDENTIFICATION - Coordinate risk identification through established and newly developed system audits, inspections, and reports

RISK ANALYSIS - Evaluate risk exposures including investigation and reporting; follow sentinel investigation policy and perform root cause analysis

LOSS PREVENTION - Develop and implement loss prevention programs

COMMITTEES - Participate in key committees involved with quality assurance, credentialing, biomedical ethics, safety, infection control, pharmacy and therapeutics, and Hospitals policy

COORDINATION - Coordinate efforts with Quality Assurance, Safety, Infection Control, Facilities Management, Biomedical Equipment Management, Security, HSC Medical Staff Affairs, Risk Management, Executive Nursing Council, Quality Council & Quality Management Committee

REPORTING - Report to the Hospitals Administration and the Board for the purpose of reviewing and evaluating the effectiveness of the quality and risk management programs

EDUCATION - Coordinate, plan, and implement educational programs to minimize the risk of harm to patients

INFORMATION - Assist in gathering and disseminating information on requirements of accrediting and regulatory agencies

PROGRAMS - Assist in the review and analysis of insurance and risk management programs for effectiveness of coverage and to reduce insurance cost and losses

CONSULTING - Consult with and advise committees on matters pertaining to quality and risk management

COMPLICANCE - Maintain current understanding of all TJC requirements

Education Requirements: Master's Degree in related discipline

Experience Requirements: 5 years directly related experience

Physical Demands Requirements: Sedentary Work: Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally (Occasionally: activity or condition exists up to 1/3 of the time) and/or a negligible amount of force frequently (Frequently: activity or condition exists from 1/3 to 2/3 of the time) to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects, including the human body. Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time, but may involve walking or standing for brief periods of time. Jobs are sedentary if walking and standing are required only occasionally and all other sedentary criteria are met.

Testing Requirements: Tuberculin Skin Test required annually

Working Conditions Requirements: No or min hazard, physical risk, office environment
