Find your future with us.The Boeing Defense, Space, & Security (BDS) division of The Boeing Company is seeking an Electro-Optical Engineer (Level 3)to join the Laser and Electro-Optical Systems (LEOS) team in Albuquerque, NM. Boeing LEOS develops high performance Directed Energy and Electro-Optical Systems. These solutions typically include high/low power laser systems, high performance sensors and custom designed optical systems. The selected candidate would work as part of a multi-disciplinary team supporting the development of both directed energy and electro-optical systems.Position ResponsibilitiesDuties will include (but are not limited to):

• Develops and validates requirements for various complex communication, sensor, electronic warfare and other electromagnetic systems and components
• Develops and validates electromagnetic requirements for electrical\electronic systems, mechanical systems, interconnects and structures
• Develops architectures to integrate complex systems and components into higher level systems and platforms
• Performs complicated trade studies, modeling, simulation and other forms of analysis to predict component, interconnects and system performance and to optimize design around established requirements
• Defines and conducts critical tests of various kinds to validate performance of designs to requirement
• Manages appropriate aspects of critical supplier and partner performance to ensure compliance to requirements
• Provides support to products throughout their lifecycle from manufacturing to customer use by providing guidance and support to resolve complex issues
• Supports project management by providing coordinating development of work statement, budget, and schedule and other required inputs and conducting appropriate reviews
• Generates major sections of proposals to support development of new business
• Works under minimal directionBasic Qualifications(Required Skills / Experience):
  • This position requires the ability to obtain a U.S. Security Clearance for which the U.S. Government requires U.S. Citizenship.
  • Bachelors of Science degree or higher
  • Optical design experience utilizing tools such as Zemax, Code V or FRED.
  • Laboratory experience with components such as lenses, beam splitters, steering mirrors, sensors (visible through LWIR), lasers, position sensing devices, and laser rangefinders
  • Modeling and simulation experience with technical computing language, such as Matlab or Mathematica.Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills / Experience):
    • Experience with lens design, high energy lasers, fiber laser combining, radiometry, atmospheric propagation, laser radar and adaptive opticsTypical Education / Experience:Education / experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 5 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD, Master+3 years' related work experience).
