Job Description:
ECS is seeking a Senior Linux Administrator to work in our
Albuquerque, NM office. Job Description:In this position you will
work with a group which provides computing capabilities and
in-depth support for scientific and engineering applications. The
team builds and maintains user environments, delivers subject
matter expert support, and application-level software and tools to
the scientific and engineering communities. You may work
autonomously or as team member/lead performing the daily
monitoring, maintenance, and repair of physical and virtual Server
based systems.Tasks include:Perform Linux Administration
dutiesSupport incident escalations requiring considerable judgment
and initiative to resolve technical issues affecting hardware,
operating systems, or applications.Work with vendors or external
partners to diagnose and resolve issuesMaintain systems by applying
operating system or application patches, install new or replace
hardware, create/apply configuration changes to improve or restore
system performanceDevelop instructions/procedures for System
Administrators I & II.Create scripts to aid with daily monitoring,
maintenance, and repair of supported systemsMonitor systems and
preform hardware troubleshooting, tracking, resolution, and routine
maintenance and security updatesConduct Quality Assurance checks.
Perform system capacity analysis and planningAssist users in
accessing and using business systemsTo accomplish this, you will
need an extensive background in Linux server administration and
issue resolution along with strong hardware/software
troubleshooting skills. Experience with Bash shell scripting.
Experience/knowledge working with Containers. And finally,
knowledge and understanding of best practices and IT operations.
Required Skills: The ability to acquire and maintain a DOE Q level
security clearance and SCI-level clearance, which may require a
polygraph test BS/BA degree with a minimum two years' experience
with Linux administration and troubleshootingProven track record of
problem solving using strong critical thinking, analytical and
troubleshooting skillsStrong technical aptitude and ability to
research and solve complex issues independentlyMinimum two years'
experience with Linux (RedHat or Ubuntu) and are capable of OS
installation, network configuration, package/patch management, and
system backups - data recoveryWorking knowledge and experience with
Bash Shell and Python scriptingExperience as a Linux System
Programmer or Linux Distribution Package MaintainerExperience in
Git source code managementAbility to work seamlessly within a team
as an active contributorStrong verbal and written customer service
and communications skillsExperience monitoring systems, hardware
troubleshooting, tracking, resolution, and routine maintenance with
security updates (i.e. STIGS/Security)Knowledge of, and desire to
follow IT Operations best practices and procedures such as issue
management and incident response Desired Skills: Active DOE Q and
SCI security clearancesCurrent Security+ or higher
certificationExperience with DevOps and CI/CD practices and tools
