OverviewSummary:The Programmer/Analyst, Data Engineer will build innovative and sophisticated analytical/reporting tools & solutions to automate manual reporting & analytics processes. The Programmer/Analyst, Data Engineer -will conduct gap analysis of current tools & solutions portfolio to identify and build improved versions of analytical/reporting tools to meet the business needs. Support senior informaticists in evaluation of effectiveness of health-related technological solutions and services post-implementation. Support development and implementation of programming standards and conventions. QualificationsPreferred Qualifications:Proficiency coding in base SAS including macro programmingProficiency with Tableau dashboard developmentSolid SQL coding experienceFinancial Health Plan reporting a plusOther information:Bachelors degree in a quantitative, IT, or related subject. Four or more years of related business intelligence, analytics and reporting work experience. Demonstrate working knowledge of sophisticated and varied analytics/reporting tools & solutions as well as platforms & products. Experience working with healthcare data (e.g., profiling), statistical analysis experience, and basic knowledge of health care and delivery system processes. Knowledge of predictive modeling, data mining and clinical best practices preferred. Requisite knowledge of a variety of server operating systems, storage systems, databases, scripting languages (e.g., Perl, Ruby, Python), monitoring and job scheduling tools. Experience working with BI tools (e.g., Business Objects/BO, Cognos), data visualizations tools (e.g., Tableau), querying language (e.g., SQL), statistical software such as SAS and Modeling techniques, as well as general health service research and outcomes reporting/analytics. Strong IT skills set along with business acumen to help business stakeholders understand the output and facilitate the development of analytical/reporting solutions to meet business needs.Build innovative and sophisticated analytical/reporting tools & solutions to automate manual reporting & analytics processes. Responsible for supporting new products identification for customers and business stakeholders to meet their needs as well as educating the end users of available tools and technology options.ResponsibilitiesResponsibilities:*Ability to collaborate and partner with management, project managers, and IT to evaluate required analytics and reporting functionality, communicate tradeoffs and propose alternative solutions, as well as plan, prioritize, and participate in related development efforts*Coordinate with cross-functional project teams to incorporate new data sources into the data warehouse and utilize BI tools to develop reports, visualizations, dashboards, and other solutions that allow data to be analyzed so as to provide meaningful business insights*Assist with business area analysis, requirements definition and gathering, source data identification, data quality definition, transformation, and summarization processes*Assist in deploying small to medium complexity new software installations and enhancement requests such as installing SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS) packages as well as routine software upgrade initiatives*Support in maintaining up-to-date project documents for all initiatives that include technical details, user expectations, project goals, work effort, accountability, and deliverables*Assist in conducting risk identification and mitigation planning concerning any issues/escalations & risks*Write and execute sophisticated SAS queries/macro applications to meet the challenges of advanced data manipulation as well as support data queries from other functional groups; design and execute interactive Tableau dashboards and reports*Apply expertise in statistical inference, data mining, and visual presentation of data to help inform and support business and product decisions; perform statistical QC of final reports*Support design, implementation, and maintenance of predictive statistical models using techniques such as logistic regression, survival analysis, neural networks, collaborative filtering, decision trees and other machine learning*Identify opportunities to reduce manual efforts through introduction/integration of new reporting/analytic tools & automation such as SAS, BO, SQL Server Reporting Services, etc.*Identify, build & test pilots of innovative analytics/reporting tools & solutions based on end business user needs as well as provide ongoing troubleshooting, support, and maintenance of application*Design, build, and support maintenance of advanced reporting, analytics, dashboards and other BI solutions using new and available tools in the landscape including and not limited to Tableau, Sales Force, custom Microsoft based reporting solutions, SQL, etc.*Perform data analysis, data validation, data mapping/design, produce data samples/prototypes and ad hoc reports as well as obtain and analyze data by accessing multiple sources, including BO and data warehouses*Perform validation of the programmed analysis datasets, tables, and listings *Provide support in development of tools & solutions through System Development Life Cycle (SDLC) model; participate in the software design, software development, and package implementation using standard platforms*Manage multiple tasks, milestones, deadlines, and customer relationships*Assist in building/designing tools to assure, maintain and improve overall efficiency and quality as well as validate work product of peers *Assist in training analytical talent and business users on new tools & solutions and support implementation of tools & solutions as well as their integration into existing work processes *Participate in developing presentations/publications with Informaticist leadership within the AO *Contribute towards and assist Informaticists leadership in developing a year-end value story to demonstrate value of the team and their contribution to progress towards the AO s and PHSs goals.BenefitsWe offer more than the standard benefits!
