Job SummaryAmentum is currently seeking a Linux / Unix System Administrator in support of an IT Management Services program for the Department of Energy. The overall program includes a 500+ work force performing Enterprise IT support, Service Desk, and Telecommunications support across multiple facilities and locations. The System Administrator will provide on-site and off-site configuration, installation, and troubleshooting support services for classified and unclassified telecommunications and information technology (IT) systems for National Technology and Engineering Solutions of Sandia (NTESS).Responsibilities:+ Supervise and manage the daily activities of configuration and operation of systems which may be mainframe, mini, or client/server based.+ Plan and monitor the optimizing of system operation and resource utilization and perform systems capacity analysis and planning.+ Plan and monitor assistance to users in accessing and using business systems. + Process Software Assurance method free from vulnerabilities on Linux OS machines.+ Install, configure, upgrade, and maintain production Linux operating systems in accordance with established IT policies and guidelines for items such as security, networks, and filesystems.+ Coordinate and perform installations and upgrades to layered software packages.+ Continually monitor and tune multiple systems to achieve optimum performance levels.+ Patch remediation for all server-based and workstation computer systems assigned to the customer support group on various networks.+ Implement of client approved patch management software to support manual and automate system installation of OS definition files.+ Automate classified and restricted network equipment OS patching or other automation. Minimum Requirements+ Must be a U.S citizen. + Must be able to obtain a TOP SECRET (TS) or DOE Q level security clearance and maintain clearance throughout the life of the contract.+ Bachelors and two years of related experience OR Associates and 5 years of related experience OR High School diploma / GED and 8 years of related experience. + Minimum 2 years experience working in a large distributed environment providing Unix/Linux Server system administration. Preferred Qualifications + Active TOP SECRET (TS) or DOE Q level security clearance preferred.+ Bachelors degree preferred.+ Familiarity or experience with virtualized systems (such as KVM, ESX) and containers.+ Working knowledge of authentication methodogies such as Kerberos, PAM, and LDAP. + Working knowledge of TCP/IP, HTTP, SSL, DNS, FTP, SSH, another common Internet protocols.+ Familiarity or experience with automation tools such as Ansible.+ Experience with solving practical problems and system analysis of IT infrastructures.+ Demonstrated experience in effectively prioritizing and executing tasks in a constantly changing environment.+ Knowledge with CLI, scripting (Bash, Python), and searching/parsing log files. + Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a collaborative and interdisciplinary team environment.
