Overview:Job DescriptionType of Opportunity: Full TimeFTE: 1.000000Exempt: NoWork Schedule: DaysSummary:The Technician 2 Telecom position responsible for the configuration, implementation, and maintenance of various telephony related technologies managed by the Information Systems department. This person will focus on the administration following Information Technology Infrastructure Library (ITIL) processes to maintain the telephony infrastructure. The Telecom Technician - 2 will assess and identify appropriate solutions for telephone system operation, make recommendations, gain approval and implement.Responsibilities:Responsibilities:*Plans and schedules daily tasks. Makes choices on work prioritization with some assistance. Uses standard instructions, written manuals and documents.*Must provide documentation of all user requests and problem resolutions and adhere to the End-user Support Service Levels at all time. Escalates issues to Telephone Tech 3 as necessary.*Responsible for implementation of new installations for the area of specialty, i.e. Telecom.*Travels as needed to support the PHS network*Messaging: Configures voice mail mailboxes to conform to Presbyterian standards. Responds to voice mail system and mailbox incidents, and can resolve problems. Escalates Call Pilot application issues to Telecom Analysts. Escalates incidents for support when necessary.*Dial Tone Services: Performs general system maintenance; uses maintenance routines to identify system issues.*Resolves carrier services issues in conjunction with the carrier if necessary. Escalates to Telephone Tech 3 or engineer as necessary.*Performs general maintenance routines such as reboots.*Performs adds, moves, and changes to the phone system.*Installs telecom network gear, installs telephones according to user requirements, implements and supports wireless telephony (Spectralink) application.*Tracks distribution of wireless telephones.*Manages the cross connect panels at the Main Distribution Frame and Intermediate Distribution Frame closets. Assures that closets are clean and well kept.*Serves as a subject matter expert on the Telephone system application.*Provides knowledge base documentation.*Responds to incidents and resolves problems. Escalates incidents for support when appropriate.*On Call: Is required to assume on call support after hours.Qualifications:Other information:Associates degree required. Three years of additional experience can be substituted in lieu of a degree.PLEASE NOTE: This Position Requires Nortel CS1000E Option 11-81, Nortel Call Pilot installation and maintenance administration course certifications or must obtain within a year of hire.
