Nursing Assistant/Certified Nursing Assistant / Float Pool / Full-time at Christus Health summary: The Nursing Assistant provides basic patient care under the supervision of a nurse to ensure a safe and comfortable environment. This role requires certification, competency in patient care skills, and the ability to manage physically demanding tasks including lifting and transferring patients. The position typically involves exposure to healthcare hazards and irregular working hours within a clinical setting. Description POSITION SUMMARY: Under the direction of the nurse, performs basic patient care related tasks that contributes to the maintenance of a safe and comfortable patient environment. Requirements DUCATION: High school graduate or equivalent. Successful completion of Nursing Assistant course within one year. CERTIFICATION/LICENSES: BLS certification required. Specialty certifications as required by each unit. SKILLS: Must be able to pass skills competency checklist as required by each unit. Must be able to read, speak and write English fluently. EXPERIENCE: Six months in a healthcare related field preferred. NATURE OF SUPERVISION: -Responsible to: Director/Manager, Nursing Unit ENVIRONMENT: - Bloodborne pathogens - B Works irregular hours. Multiple simultaneous activities around patient care. Exposure to infectious diseases and x-rays. Subject to varying unpredictable situations. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Must be able to handle emergency/crisis situations, prolonged, extensive or considerable standing/walking. Has knowledge of and uses good body mechanics. Frequently lifts, positions, pushes and/or transfers patients or equipment. Hearing and visual acuity within normal limits. Manual dexterity and fine motor coordination required.
