Provide specialized nursing care in a Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU), delivering comprehensive patient-centered support for critically ill pediatric patients. This role demands clinical expertise, critical thinking, and compassionate care to ensure positive outcomes for young patients and their families across various settings within a 20-mile radius. Key Responsibilities: Deliver direct patient care using the nursing process: assessment, planning, implementation, evaluation, and documentation. Maintain patient ratios ranging from 1:1 to 1:3 for pediatric and special care (SAC) status patients. Collaborate closely with patients, families, and multidisciplinary healthcare teams to coordinate care. Administer medications and treatments as prescribed, adhering to protocols and policies. Conduct education and competency assessments related to population-specific procedures and protocols. Provide clinical supervision to Licensed Practical Nurses (LPNs) and non-licensed assistive personnel. Identify and address patient and family learning needs throughout the care episode. Float between departments or local locations within 20 miles as needed. Desired Qualifications: Current Registered Nurse (RN) license with Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) experience. Strong ability to manage critical care pediatric patients in an acute setting. Excellent communication, organizational, and teamwork skills. Competence in administering medications and treatments according to protocols. Experience supervising and guiding LPNs and support staff.
