Schedule: Not Available Call Required: No Position Overview The
Progressive Care Unit (PCU) at Lovelace Medical Center's Heart
Hospital provides intermediate-level cardiac and
cardiovascular-focused care for adult and geriatric patients.
Nurses care for patients requiring continuous cardiac monitoring
and advanced nursing interventions, including post-cardiac
procedures and management of complex cardiovascular conditions. The
unit operates with a 1:4–1:5 nurse-to-patient ratio and supports
both 36- and 48-hour work options. Strong cardiovascular experience
is required. Requirements Licensure: - Active NM RN License or
Compact License – Required (Must be in hand at submission)
Experience: - Minimum 2 years recent PCU/Stepdown experience –
Required - Cardiovascular experience – Required - First-time
travelers – Accepted Patient Ratio Experience: - 1:4 (occasionally
1:5) Travel Experience: - Travel experience not required Teaching

Interpretation and management of dysrhythmias - Post-cardiac
angiogram care - Pre/Post cardiac catheterization - Post-MI care
(STEMI/NSTEMI) - Pre/Post cardiac surgery care - Sheath removal
(Preferred) Medications & Drips - Heparin protocols (Preferred) -
Cardiac drips (titration and non-titrated) - PCA management -
Procedural sedation monitoring - IV insulin protocols (Preferred)
Respiratory - Oxygen administration - Nasal cannula - High Flow
Nasal Cannula (Preferred) - CPAP/BiPAP (Preferred) - Chest tube
management (Preferred) Neurological & GI - CVA/stroke care
(Preferred) - Feeding tube care and management (Preferred)
Professional Practice - Isolation precautions - Wound care and
wound vacs (Preferred) - Rapid response and emergency participation
