Job Description & Requirements - Specialty: PICU - Pediatric Intensive Care - Discipline: RN - Start Date: 01/12/2026 - Duration: 13 weeks - 36 hours per week - Shift: 12 hours, days - Employment Type: Travel Job Description American Traveler is seeking an experienced PICU RN with NM or compact license, BLS, PALS, and proficiency in advanced pediatric critical care procedures. Responsibilities - Position based in the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) within a Level I Trauma, Children's, and Teaching Hospital - Patient population includes critical pediatric cases with diagnoses such as respiratory distress/failure, renal failure, trauma, heme/onc, multi-system organ failure, suicide attempt, CRRT, and ECMO - Nurse-to-patient ratio is 1:2 - Options for 3x12 or 4x12 hour shifts, with rotating schedules (not rotating within a 4-week block), including both day and night shifts as required during contract - Required to work 4-5 weekend shifts per schedule, with Friday, Saturday, and Sunday nights treated as weekend shifts - No on-call requirement - Floating to NICU is required; may also provide resource support in the Peds ED without carrying a full assignment or patient load - Uses Cerner EMR system; prior experience preferred - Block schedules are not guaranteed - Primary responsibilities include care coordination and advanced interventions for critically ill pediatric patients using complex equipment and therapies - Pediatric RNs will support other units as needed, particularly assisting with IVs and medications in the Peds ED (without taking full assignments) - First-time travelers are accepted - Candidates may work up to 12 consecutive months before a break is required - Perm staff may return as travelers if they have not worked at the facility for at least 12 months - Black scrubs required, not provided by the facility - Holiday time off is limited to one "holiday bundle" per contract; requests for more than 7 days RTO require approval; no RTO on first or last days of contract - Drug screenings and compliance requirements must be completed within deadlines; strong commitment to compliance is essential - Parking is free on site Requirements - Active NM or compact RN license; license may be pending at time of submission - Minimum of 1.5 years recent PICU RN experience required - Current BLS and PALS certifications - Working knowledge and experience with CRRT, ECMO, ventilators, and inotropic drips - Not open to RQI certifications - COVID vaccination required; exemptions available with completed and signed exemption form - Must reside outside a 75-mile radius from the facility - Submission of a non-local Driver’s License or transportation statement as required Benefits - High Pay and Bonuses - Medical, Dental and Vision Insurance with Day 1 Options - 401(k) Plan - Weekly Payroll Deposit - Free Online CEUs - Generous Housing Allowance - Travel and Licensure Reimbursements - Non-taxed Per Diem and Subsidy - Traveler Rewards and Discounts American Traveler Job ID P-629803.
