organization. Where We Are: Los Alamos Medical Center is a
community Hospital located in the beautiful mountain community of
Los Alamos, NM, surrounded by the powerful Jemez Mountains. Los

Taos) are within an hour's drive of Los Alamos. Position Summary:
This position supervises daily staff activities for the Labor and
Delivery Department. Essential Functions: - Determines, coordinates
and supervises daily staffing assignments and levels, ensuring
staffing schedule is accurate and appropriate. - Provides
direction, orientation, training, competency, coaching, and
mentoring to staff. - Performs performance evaluations and manages
all coaching and disciplinary actions for staff in collaboration
with CNO and People Services. - Assesses and ensures quality of
services delivered and facilitates staff development programs. -
Ensures staff compliance with departmental and organizational
policies, procedures, and protocols. - Performs staff
responsibilities and takes patient assignments on the floor as
needed to fulfill the required service levels and to meet staffing
needs. - Leads the handling and resolution of complex issues and
complaints. - Ensures staff have the necessary equipment and
supplies to provide safe, quality patient care. - Integrates
evidence-based practices into operations and clinical protocols. -
Creates and fosters an environment that encourages professional
growth. - Manages timekeeping in KRONOS and Interviews and hires
staff. - Manages performance improvement projects and regulatory
compliance for department. - Responds to complaints about patient
care and related services and manages through established channels.
- Evaluates the effectiveness of patient care and identifies any
issues that affect desired patient outcomes. - Reviews and updates
all policies and procedures for the department. - Manages all
aspects of nursing Provision of Care for department.
Qualifications: Minimum Qualifications - Education: Associate's
degree required. Bachelor's degree preferred. - Required Skills:
Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the
ability to work with minimal supervision. Must be able to work in a
stressful environment and take appropriate action. - Licenses:
Current NM RN license or appropriate compact licensure to start -
Certifications: - BLS upon hire - Must obtain NRP and ACLS within
six months of hire or transfer into position - Will be required to
obtain Intermediate Fetal Monitoring or Advanced Fetal Monitoring
and STABLE within one year from hire or transfer into position. -
New hires will have ninety (90) days from date of hire to obtain
American Heart Association (AHA) certifications. Notwithstanding
this grace period for obtaining AHA certifications, employees are
not excused from being current in all existing certifications that
are required for their position as outlined in the position job
description.
