Position SummaryThe University of New Mexico (UNM) School of Medicine
Departments of Dermatology and Pathology seek a skilled General
Dermatologist/Dermatopathologist, who brings new ideas and thrives in an
innovative and diverse team environment. We serve a large, medically complex
population and function as the consultation source for the entire state of New
Mexico (population 2.1 million). Many of our patients present with very
challenging pathology and/or clinical context due to lack of access and other
social determinants (we currently have less than fifty practicing
dermatologists for this population). We therefore pride ourselves on providing excellent
care to all patients in general and pediatric dermatology, as well as offering phototherapy,
laser, dermatologic surgery/Mohs and aesthetic services. We have built an
incredibly collaborative team of engaged and energetic faculty, residents, and
staff, including with our Veterans Affairs and Pathology-Dermatopathology and
Hematopathology faculty colleagues. We have a strong and consistent partnership
with Medical and Surgical Oncology (at our comprehensive NCI-designated Comprehensive
Cancer Center), Plastic Surgery, and community/referring dermatologists and primary
care providers throughout the state. Responsibilities include: A flexible blend of clinical general dermatology (and
specific specialty area if desired) and interpretation of dermatopathology
cases along with educational efforts in both domains. The position would be
primarily in the Department of Dermatology, with a secondary appointment in
Pathology. The UNM Health Sciences Center (HSC) is the only academic
