Trust Director manages all aspects of The Arc New Mexico's pooled
trust program, including fund administration, regulatory
compliance, financial reporting, and internal financial controls.
This role also oversees the organization's accounts payable
functions and provides strategic financial insight to senior
leadership.The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, analytical, and
experienced in nonprofit or fiduciary financial management. They
bring not only technical expertise but also a strong commitment to
the ethical stewardship of resources that support some of the most
vulnerable members of our community.Key ResponsibilitiesTrust
Management & Financial Oversight
- Oversee pooled trust operations, including budgeting,
reconciliation, and compliance.
- Monitor cash flow, manage financial risk, and ensure the
accuracy of all trust-related financial accounts.
- Collaborate with external vendors to prepare financial
statements and present reports to the Board and leadership.Pooled
Trust Administration
- Manage trust distributions and maintain all associated
files.
- Ensure full compliance with federal and state regulations
governing SSI, Medicaid, and other public benefits.
- Support beneficiaries and their representatives with financial
planning that preserves eligibility while enhancing quality of
life.
- Exercise discretion in distribution decisions and maintain
long-term stakeholder relationships.Accounts Payable & Vendor
Management
- Oversee all accounts payable functions, ensuring timely,
accurate payments.
- Manage vendor relationships and negotiate contracts to control
costs.
- Ensure compliance with all tax and regulatory requirements
related to payables.Compliance & Audit Preparedness
- Maintain adherence to all financial laws, regulations, and
internal policies.
- Prepare and support external audits, conduct periodic internal
audits, and implement corrective actions when necessary.
- Maintain detailed records and prepare regulatory filings as
required.Leadership & Supervision
- Provide financial leadership and strategic recommendations to
senior management.
- Supervise trust and finance staff, assigning responsibilities,
offering training, and supporting professional growth.
- Deliver trainings and outreach related to trust operations for
staff, beneficiaries, and stakeholders.What You Need to
SucceedEducation & Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business
Administration, or related field preferred.
- 5+ years of experience in trust management, nonprofit finance,
or similar fiduciary role.
- Experience with regulatory compliance and financial auditing
strongly preferred.
- Supervisory or team leadership experience required.Skills &
Competencies
- Strong financial acumen and organizational skills with
attention to detail.
- Ability to manage complex regulatory requirements with sound
judgment and ethical integrity.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and financial systems; database
management skills a plus.
- Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Ability to lead with empathy, collaboration, and mission
alignment.Work Environment & Requirements
- Routine office setting with occasional in-person meetings or
events.
- Physical Requirements: Ability to sit for extended periods and
lift up to 20 lbs unassisted (40 lbs with assistance).
- Valid Driver's License & Background Check Required.Compensation
& BenefitsCompetitive Pay Based on Experience: $70,000-$73,000
Starting Pay
Benefits start on the 1st of the month after 60 days and include:
