This role will be overseeing the veterinary care of a variety of species that are part of a biomedical testing program, as such all applicants should be aware of this and be comfortable working in this environment.Why join us?Non-Profit OrganizationLeadership RoleGreat PayComprehensive Benefits PackageRelocation and sign on bonus availableJob DetailsPosition Overview: The Attending Veterinarian & Director of Compariative Medicine will oversee the strategic and operational activies of our animal research program, and will provide guidance for veterinary services, research support, study scheduling, pharmacy, and adminsitration.Day to Day Responsibilities:

• Fiscal and Administrative Management of the program
• Strategic planning to meet organzational projections and needs
• Managing the housing and care for animals for research and affiliated staff
• Monitoring animal care and use standards to ensure compliance
• Oversight of program to assure care, diagnosis, disease treatment, preventative medicine, health monitoring, and quarantine
• Responsible for AAALAC reviews and compliance
• Maintenance of Institutional Accreditation
• Participate in Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee (IACUC)
• Identify staffing needs, mentor and train staff, and performance evaluationsRequired Qualifications:
  • Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM)
  • ACLAM Certification
  • DEA License
  • 10+ Years experience in animal laboratory experience
  • 5+ Years in managerial role
  • Ability to comply with USDA, Animal Welfare Act, NIH Public Health Service Policy, DEA regulations, amongst other governing regularionsPreferred Qualifications:
    • Ph.D., M.S., etc
