The Director of Fiber Engineering will be part of our Broadband Infrastructure Group and report to the VP who leads that team. This Director will be responsible for assessing the design, feasibility and implementation plan for all middle-mile, distribution, and Fiber to the Home (FTTH) deployments for Commnet Broadband. The Director will work closely with our Site Engineering, Business Development and Regional Sales teams to identify projects and designs that will maximize our fiber asset creation and best achieve our goal to bring broadband communications to the Rural Southwest. The Director will also engage and closely work with multiple Engineering firms to complete detailed designs for approved projects.

Duties and Responsibilities (include but not limited to)
Manages and develops the functions of: Engineering Assessment - determine the high-level viability of proposed projects identified by peer Commnet Broadband teams
High-Level Designs and Cost Estimates - produce internally or secure 3 rd party firms to develop high level fiber designs and cost estimates to assist with determining whether projects are feasible and can be pursued
Partner Engagement - engage directly with current and potential State, County, Tribal and other Partners to define and clarify Commnet Broadband's value as a fiber engineering and construction partner for their broadband goals
Vendor Management - identify, engage, and manage multiple fiber engineering firms to engage for detailed fiber engineering designs

Capability to travel, up to 25% of the time, generally by car within CO, NM, AZ, UT, and NV
Engage with customers, partners and vendors in a professional manner that builds trust
Work collaboratively with peer Commnet Broadband teams to identify projects that maximize the goals of building long-term assets as well as delivering quality broadband communications services in our operating region
Capture and communicate design proposals and cost estimates both internally and externally to partners
Develop quality, convincing content for RFP proposals, grant requests as well as internal Capital investment opportunities
Upholds existing company policies and contributes to the crafting of new policies or revisions
Required Qualifications:
5+ years of experience in designing and pricing successful fiber designs
Demonstrated, on-the-ground experience in the design and deployment of local fiber networks via aerial and underground deployments
Experience contracting and managing 3 rd party engineering resources
Ability to quickly analyze information and transfer into a business plan/proposal
Strong verbal and written communications skills
Strong influence management and interpersonal skills with experience presenting infrastructure projects to construction vendors and community/city council organizations
Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with a team to optimize plans and results
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, Teams, etc.)
Effective prioritization and project management skills
Efficient personal time management

Compensation & Benefits:
Hiring Compensation Range: $125k-$175k (compensation determined by the applicant's education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities, as well as internal equity and alignment with market data.)
Other Compensation: This role will be eligible to participate in the annual incentive compensation plan.
