segment of the energy industry! The Safety Manager Position
Sunnova Energy is searching for a Safety Manager develop safety
activities, reporting, personnel training, safety inspections and
occupational compliance for field maintenance and service
operations in conjunction with other safety and fleet personnel and
managers. D evelop effective workplace safety compliance programs
and policies encompassing Occupational Safety and Health Standards
and regulations (i.e., OSHA 29CFR Part 1910 and/or Part 1926 etc.
). This role is also responsible for developing and implementing
safety programs to mitigate and eliminate hazards, injuries,
accidents, and safety incidents of potential hazards, and train on
hazards, risks, and injury prevention. Additionally, this person
will be responsible for developing safety reporting, in-field
safety audits and inspections to identify appropriate work
practices, safety behaviors, and safety compliance according to
regulations and company policies.
Safety Manager Responsibilities
Exemplifies and promotes a culture of Safety; eliminates, trains,
and implements safety programs on hazards and risks to prevent
incidents leading to accidents, injuries, and fatalities.
Manages a team of safety coordinators who administers the safety
program, safety training, and conducts safety audits.
Advances initiatives to promote and sustain the safety, health,
security, and welfare of all personnel.
Uses NIOSH methodologies in safety, accident, and injury prevention
for job hazard management.
Develops, deploys, and monitors all Safety programs, procedures,
policies, and standards, complying with Federal, State, and Local
requirements.
Provides technical and regulatory support as needed, including
participation in regulatory visits or field inspections.
Standardizes personal protective equipment (PPE) for all field
personnel and manages equipment purchases, issuance, records, and
maintenance.
Investigates incidents to identify root causes, determines how they
might be more preventable in the future, and communicates findings
to management and team members.
Communicates and coordinates post incident or near-miss incidents,
injuries, accidents, and emergencies findings and remediation
strategy and reporting with appropriate documentation.
Uses reporting data to monitor the patterns and root cause
analysis.
Communicates and delivers on goals, objectives, policies, and
priorities for improving safety practices, performance, and
programs.
Screens and analyzes data to take necessary measures to reduce
operational injuries, accidents, and incidents while reducing costs
and providing supporting documentation.
Develop safety training programs for continuous improvement.
Coaches and recognizes workers on safe work methods, motivates
workers to safely perform their jobs.
Reports all incidents in an effective and timely manner
Delivers on goals, objectives, policies, and priorities for
improving safety practices, performance, and programs.
Minimum Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Occupational Safety and Health, Risk
Management, or related field preferred, or equivalent work
experience in the safety and health field.
5+ years' experience in safety and health in construction,
telecommunications, electrical industries or related fields.
2+ years' experience in management with direct reports.
Working knowledge of OSHA standards and regulations, including 29
CFR Part 1910 (General Industry) and 29 CFR Part 1926
(Construction) including, NIOSH, NFPA70E, DOT, Hazcom, Personal
Safety Equipment, NFPA70-E for electrical, OSHA 10 and/or OSHA
30.
Knowledge and experience with working at heights requirements and
regulations.
Proficient using Microsoft Office Suite: Excel, Word, Outlook,
etc.
Possess and illustrate experience in attention to detail for
identifying hazards to promote and successfully execute on injury
and illness prevention programs.
Previous managerial experience, with multiple reports, and
abilities to perform medium to high complex tasks, and supervise
other safety and health professionals.
Ability to read and understand various types of tables, reports,
engineering diagrams etc.
Other characteristics, behaviors, experience, and skills that
support best suitability for the position to participate and
coordinate safety initiatives while gaining employee inclusion,
respect, and willingness to participate in building a strong safety
culture.
Preferred Qualifications
5+ years' Safety and Risk Management experience within the solar or
renewable energy industry.
OSHA 30 Certification.
Fall Protection and/or Electrical Safety certifications and
experience.
Experience training the Trainer Certifications.
Advanced computer and software skills, and smart-digital devices
(i.e., Smartsheets, Salesforce etc.).
Additional Knowledge, Skills And Abilities
Working knowledge of general and construction safety, fall
protection, working heights, ladder safety, slip, trips and falls,
electrical safety etc.
Residential/Commercial electrical Service experience.
Stand-by generator operational and safe operational experience.
Lithium-ion battery safety and operational experience.
Written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills, includes
effective proof-reading and proper grammatical presentations.
Proven analytical skills reflecting the ability to be proactive and
ability to pay keen attention to the smallest of details
Must be able to manage time effectively and adhere to strict
deadlines
Working Conditions
Open-office environment.
Able to work extended hours when required.
Valid Driver's License: Motor Vehicle Report required.
Physical Requirements
25% estimated domestic travel time, includes Puerto Rico and
Pacific Islands
Able to sit or stand for frequent and extended periods in the same
location with some opportunity to move about.
Able to use computers and monitors for extended periods daily.
