We are seeking a Digital Integrated Circuit (IC) Design Engineer to join a team utilizing advanced CAD tools and CMOS semiconductor technologies to support ASIC product development targeting DOE weapons systems, satellite systems, the intelligence community, high energy physics research and trusted microelectronics applications. Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to Developing complex digital ICs including high performance focal plane array read-out ICs, fast framing cameras, trusted microprocessors, field programmable gate arrays (FPGA), digital signal processors, high performance communication devices and digital memories including SRAMs and NVMs targeting both Sandia-s internal radiation hardened IC technology as well as external commercial state of the art silicon foundries. Translation of customer requirements into a digital microarchitecture and synthesizable RTL code captured in VHDLVerilog. Creation of targeted behavioral simulation testbenches and associated test scripts. May be required to perform VV including use of System Verilog and UVM methodology. Perform logic synthesis and static timing analysis. Perform or direct others in the execution of the APR flow to ensure density and speed constraints are achieved. Direct the IC layout staff to implement the physical layout in accordance with foundry design rules to ensure products are manufacturable, reliable and will meet all electrical performance requirements. Development of test methodologies for IC verification and working closely with test engineering to ensure thorough characterization and validation of all functional requirements. Light electrical laboratory test setup planning, design and debug. Working closely with the production agency to resolve any issues associated with the transition to full scale production. Qualifications We Require Bachelor-s degree in Electrical or Computer Engineering. 5 years of relevant experience. Ability to obtain and maintain a DOE Q clearance. Qualifications We Desire Ideally, we would like to see your background include some of the following Graduate degree in Electrical or Computer Engineering. Educational emphasis on high performance digital design and verification including exposure to modern IC CAD tools. Familiarity with most of the following Complete digital ASIC design flow VHDL or Verilog languages Behavioral testbenches UVM including System Verilog Logic simulation Logic synthesis Auto Place Route DFT methodologies including BIST and ATPG Modern CAE tools (Cadence, Mentor, Synopsys) Digital Memories including modern Error Correcting Codes High speed communication protocols Radiation mitigation techniques Laboratory test equipment Demonstrated ability to diagnose and debug integrated circuits in a laboratory environment. Some experience with WR product design and development. Some experience interfacing to an external production agency such as NSC. Experience with project or program management. Strong interpersonal skills which include teamwork, effective leadership, negotiation, delegation, conflict resolution and the ability to work in a diverse team environment. Excellent written and verbal communication skills are a must, including the development and delivery of presentations, proposals, reports, and documentation. Active DOE Q Security Clearance. We have a deep understanding of technology offerings and design methodologies to provide custom microelectronic products and engineering services that fulfill the diverse needs of our customers (Nuclear Weapons NW and Strategic Partnership Programs SPP). Customers include DOE weapons systems, satellite systems, the intelligence community, armed services, other government agencies, the Sandia research community, and commercial industry. Our Category 1A Trusted Accreditation through the DoD Defense MicroElectronics Activity (DMEA) is for "Trusted Design" services for both unclassified and classified integrated circuits. We provide Trusted ASIC Design Services for both radiation-hardened and non-radiation-hardened Trusted Foundries (350nm, 180nm, 130nm, 90nm, 65nm, 45nm, 32nm and 14nm). We are also involved in microelectronics research and development for next generation microelectronics in support of both laboratory directed research and development (LDRD) and external sponsors. In addition to IC product development, the department works closely with our in-house radiation hardened CMOS technology group to maintain state-of-the-art radiation-hardened CMOS research, design, and production capability.
