Position Overview:The SMT Process Engineer is responsible for developing a capable, repeatable, and stable SMT process. The engineers will define, develop, and implement optimal manufacturing and process methodologies to continuously improve safety, quality, delivery, and cost performance across all stages of the process/product lifecycle.?Essential Duties and Responsibilities:Technical Duties:
Subject matter expert in our SMT manufacturing processes.CAD / CAM Programming: Develop Centroid Data, marry the BOM to X,Y data, define packages, research definition of components, updates SMT Placement Equipment.Detailed understanding of stencil design ? Leaded processes, Intrusive Paste, Glue process. Owns selecting the vendor and the ordering process for all stencils.Deploys a best in class paste deposition process validated by a 3D volumetric inspection process. SPC Active.Detailed understanding of tooling required for electronics SMT (Surface Mount Technology) - SMT Pallets and fixturing. Owns ordering, documenting requirement, and deploying all SMT tooling.Complete understanding of the reflow process.Develops a line balancing process for improved tact time / through put.Optimizes the use of AOI and SPI.Understands and leads setup reduction activities.Understand impact process changes to downstream processes.Maximize machine performance through effective maintenance programs.Process champions defining process procedures and training requirements.Maximize process integrity through rigorous mistake proof methodologies and process controls.Performs PFMEA and works to mitigate risks on high RPN?s.Continuously improving total process stream performance to provide industry benchmark results.Responsible for the development and optimization of manufacturing processes.Drives improvement in process equipment capability.Routinely perform moderately-complex to complex processes experiments and design of experiments.Improves manufacturing processes using statistical process control techniques.Utilizes process data to continually improve processes and reduce defects.Provides design for manufacturability and assembly input.Works closely with manufacturing engineers on specific process development.Participates in CIT meetings to improve product quality.Works closely with facilities engineering identifying and qualifying new equipment.Design process flow and rate realizationTeam with people leader sharing assigned process value stream to resolve issues relating to;Defect reductionCustomer ReturnsEfficiencyScrap ReductionPerform miscellaneous job-related duties as assignedCustomer Service:

Keep in line with company accredited certifications and safety policyJob Specifications / Qualifications / Skills:?Minimum Education: BS Engineering or Equivalent experience?Minimum Experience: 3 ? 5 years? experience in a similar role of electronics surface mount technology, or a combination of education and experience.?Other Skills/Knowledge/Experience:
Demonstrated experience in process improvement.Experience in SPC, design of experiments and design for manufacturability.Very knowledgeable in industry standards?Computer Skills:
Basic Word for Windows skills as evidenced by the ability to produce basic business letters and simple tables and charts; as well as check spelling, set tabs, change page orientation, sort, save, open and organize electronic files.Basic Excel skills as evidenced by the ability to use workbooks, create simple formulas, insert and delete data, create and edit charts, filter and sort lists, and format data.Basic Microsoft PowerPoint skills as evidenced by the ability to create and save a presentation, add titles, edit and delete slides, reordering slides, applying slide masters, checking spelling, and adding clip art.Ability to work effectively with diverse populationsAbility to communicate clearly in English, verbally and in writing.?Additional Requirements:?

Work Environment: Office & manufacturing environment where the noise level is generally quiet to moderately noisy.Weight Requirements: Ability to lift/carry/push/pull up to 40 pounds.Body Movements: While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be required to stand, walk, sit, climb, reach, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. Ability to stand, sit, and move about facility for long periods of time.
