Job ID 10921AThe Space Dynamics Laboratory (SDL), a University
Affiliated Research Center, has been developing innovative
technologies and solutions for cutting-edge DoD programs for almost
six decades.The Strategic and Military Space Division is seeking a
Student Engineering Intern to support the Geophysical Environment
Impacts and Applications program for the Air Force Research
Laboratory (AFRL) located at Kirtland Air Force Base, Albuquerque,
NM. SDL is investigating the ionosphere and its impact on
defense-related systems. Interns will be tasked with varying duties
based on current projects, needed support, and development phase.
Work may include performing electrical/mechanical assembly,
integration and test activities, board rework, hand soldering, and
visual inspection of assemblies. Occasional evening and weekend
shifts during certain testing may be required.Key
Responsibilities/Qualifications:
Experience with laboratory test
equipment - Digital Multi-Meters, Oscilloscopes, Spectrum
Analyzers, etc.Basic soldering, cabling, and wire harnessingAbility
to apply basic principles of electronics and signal processing in
real situationsRequired Qualifications:
Able to work 15 - 20 hours per week
during the school year and up to 40 hours during school breaksBasic
mechanical aptitude to include drilling, hammering, cutting,
etc..Knowledge of/experience with Linux based operating systemsAble
to work effectively both independently and as a team member and the
ability to be productive in a dynamic and collaborative
environmentGood communication skills, both written and verbalMust
be a U.S. Citizen and able to obtain and maintain a US government
security clearance. This position may require exposure to
information, which is subject to US export control regulations,
i.e. the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR). (Dual
citizenship may modify the projects an intern may participate
in)Education:
Current university junior or senior
pursing a degree in engineeringSuccessful completion of Electronics
I and Signals and Systems courses3.0 GPA minimum is requiredStudent
