Associate Spacecraft Engineer
Spacecraft Operations Engineer in support of requirements, design,
analysis, test and operation of space vehicles and ground systems
for commercial, DoD and NASA customers.
What You'll Do:
- Provide space operational and engineering support as a subject
matter expert for:
- Space vehicle payload and bus operations
- Space vehicle command and control
- Space vehicle telemetry trending and analysis
- Space vehicle operational planning and execution
- Space vehicle anomaly resolution
- Space vehicle operational capability assessment
- Customer working groups and reviews
- Testing and validation and verification
- Space vehicle orbit dynamics and attitude control
- Space vehicle sensor performance analysis
- Space vehicle calibrations
- Maintain space vehicle software and hardware test benches:
- Engineering model hardware
- Supporting models and simulations and interfacing systems
- Tracking and planning technical refresh hardware and
software
- Develop and update:
- Reports, status updates and presentations
- Operational technical orders
- Recommended operational procedures (ROPs)
- Training materials and references
- Analysis tools (Matlab, etc)
- Support may be provided in-plant or at the customer site
- Required 24/7 operations, extended work weeks, travel as
needed.
- Maintain a regular and predictable work schedule.
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships within
the department, the Strategic Business Units, Strategic
Capabilities Units and the Company. Interact appropriately with
others in order to maintain a positive and productive work
environment.
- Perform other duties as necessary. What You'll Need:
- BS degree or higher in Engineering or a related technical
field
- Each higher-level degree, i.e., Master's Degree or Ph.D., may
substitute for two years of experience. Related technical
experience may be considered in lieu of education. Degree must be
from a university, college, or school which is accredited by an
agency recognized by the US Secretary of Education, US Department
of Education.
- A current, active TS/SCI security clearance with CI Polygraph
is required.
- Demonstrated knowledge of ground systems for spacecraft
operations is highly recommended.
- Excellent System engineering / SEIT skills.
- Experience with Software Development Plans and Software
Standards.
- Knowledge of systems engineering roles and functions, including
operations concept development, requirements management, functional
analysis, interface definition and control, synthesis, and/or
verification and validation.
- Ability to quickly come up to speed on technical and management
efforts currently underway.
- Experience in developing specifications, design and analysis,
documentation, and presentations.
- Excellent interpersonal skills, communication skills,
presentation skills, and an ability to lead group discussions.
- Effectiveness in working with people at all levels and with
outside customers, able and willing to contribute wherever and
however needed, provide leadership and guidance to program
activities and staff. Full-Time On-Site Work Environment: This
position requires regular in-person engagement by working on-site
full-time. Travel and local commute between Ball campuses and other
possible non-Ball locations may be required.

- Work is performed in an office, laboratory, production floor,
or cleanroom, outdoors or remote research environment.
- May occasionally work in production work centers where use of
protective equipment and gear is required.
- May access other facilities in various weather conditions.
Verification that your current security clearance or government
customer access meets the requirement for this position will be
required.

Compensation & Benefits:
- HIRING SALARY RANGE: $73,500 - $91,500 (Salary to be determined
by the education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of
the applicant, internal equity, and alignment with market
data.)
