Job Description Job Description Position Summary We are seeking a detail-driven, organized, and customer-focused Estimator to support our growing commercial operations. This role is critical to our success and works closely with sales, vendors, and customers to deliver accurate, timely, and competitive bids. While industry experience is preferred, we are open to training the right candidate who demonstrates strong analytical skills and a willingness to learn. Key Responsibilities Review blueprints, architectural drawings, door schedules, and project specifications Quantify materials including hollow metal doors, wood doors, frames, and hardware sets Prepare accurate cost estimates for labor, materials, and related project expenses Coordinate with suppliers to obtain pricing and confirm product availability Prepare clear, detailed, and professional bid proposals Maintain organized records of estimates, quotes, and supporting documentation Follow up on submitted bids and support customer and sales inquiries Stay current with commercial door and hardware standards, products, and pricing trends Qualifications: Education: High school diploma or equivalent required Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Business, or a related field is a plus Experience: Estimating or construction-related experience preferred, particularly in doors, hardware, or building materials Administrative or office experience with strong documentation skills required Candidates with transferable skills and strong attention to detail will be considered Technical Skills: Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications Proficiency with Microsoft Office or Google Workspace (Excel proficiency is important) Experience with estimating software or ERP systems is a plus Key Competencies: Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy Strong analytical and math skills Clear written and verbal communication Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines Professional demeanor and customer-service mindset What We Offer Competitive compensation based on experience Stable, full-time position with a long-standing local company Supportive team environment with training and growth opportunities Company Description Grant’s Steel is a long-established and respected supplier of commercial doors, frames, and builders’ hardware serving Albuquerque and the greater New Mexico construction market.
