Are you a Controller that enjoys the excitement and challenge of real estate? If so, Heritage Real Estate Company is looking for you to fill a full-time, salaried position. Heritage Real Estate Company provides acquisition, development, project management, and property management services for three of the most premier Class A office buildings, specialty retail, including the trail blazing Sawmill Market, which is the first artisanal food hall in New Mexico, and other income producing properties. Heritage is looking for an exceptional Controller to dive into the world of real estate and lead our accounting team. Please see our website at www.heritagerec.comOur current Controller is retiring in January 2023. We would like to hire his replacement as quickly as possible to allow for a smooth transition. The position will work primarily out of our corporate office in downtown Albuquerque and will have a salary ranging from $90,000 to $110,000, DOE, plus benefits. POSITION SUMMARY: The Controller is responsible for all aspects of the accounting functions, including protecting assets by establishing, monitoring, and enforcing internal controls and SOP's, overseeing all accounting operations that include financial reporting, budgeting, cash management, oversight and evaluation of costs and expenses. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Work collaboratively and directly with Property Management, Leasing/Brokerage and Development teamsSupervise accounting staff.Prepare accurate and timely financial reports in accordance with GAAP for all company operations including variance analysis and account reconciliations with reports for management and investors. Generate all Balance Sheet reconciliations, including detailed reporting on multi-tiered reconciliations involving complex account activity.Standard oversight and processing of bank reconciliations, A/R, A/P, fixed assets and depreciation, loans and mortgages, and invoice preparation. Prepare or review cash flow projections, forecasts, and annual budgets. Work closely with banks on monthly mortgage payments, quarterly and annual reporting, reviews of escrows and reserves and other work as needed. Track property construction projects to budget as needed. Timely file NM Gross Receipts tax returns.Oversee annual Form 1099 reporting.Prepare year-end tax packages for tax return preparation.Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops and reviewing professional publications.Complete all other duties as assigned..

Requirements:
Minimum of Bachelor's degree in accounting. CPA preferred.At least five (5) years of Controller or managerial experience in finance, accounting, budgeting, cash management, credit, insurance, and/or tax. Specialized knowledge of commercial real estate accounting/finance principles preferred.Minimum two years of experience with property management software preferred.Advanced skill level in Microsoft Office or similar software applications.Must be able to speak, read, write, and understand English.Must have a valid driver's license, vehicle insurance and reliable vehicle.Strong team player, friendly, patient, professional appearance and manner.
